Goal
Promote sustainable improvement in nutritional status of the people of Somaliland, in particular women and children with a focus on the first 1,000 days.
Our Mission
To create strong, well coordinated and vibrant civil society network, maintaining a common purpose, able to advocate and illuminate the importance of nutrition as a national agenda which is integral to achieving the promise of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to end malnutrition in all its forms throughout Somaliland.
Strengthen
Civil society capacities in Somaliland to speak with one voice., aligned with national priorities and the global SUN movement;
Identify
Advocacy priorities, and work with government and other development partners towards positive policy change that supports the aims of the SUN Movement;
Elaborate
Implement and monitor public policies that are influenced by civil society in favour of nutrition;
Support
Evidence-based programming through research, knowledge management, and learning platforms;
Mainstream
Nutrition messaging that can lead to behaviour change in households, in the private sector, and in other non-traditional entities.
SUN Movement Pooled Fund
The Pooled Fund concept was developed in 2017 with the aim to strengthen the capacity of non-governmental systems in SUN Countries. It takes into consideration the lessons-learned from the 2012-2015 Multi-Partner Trust Fund (MPTF) Evaluation, its Management Response, and the SUN Movement Strategy and Roadmap (2016-2020). The Pooled Fund is coherent with the SUN Movement stewardship arrangements and processes at national and global levels. In particular, the Pooled Fund will support actions which reinforce in-country capabilities of all stakeholders in SUN Countries across four thematic areas

Continuously improve country planning to end malnutrition

Mobilise, advocate and communicate for impact

Strengthen capacity of government and non-governmental systems, multi- sectoral teams, and their individual members, for scaled-up nutrition action at all levels.

Ensure equity, equality and non-discrimination for all with women and girls at the centre of efforts. The Pooled Fund is administered by United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS).

It gives me immense pleasure to welcome you to the new Somaliland Civil Society Network for SUN (SLCSN-SUN) website that we hope you will find not just user-friendly and informative, but also aesthetically pleasing. There is no alternative to meeting face-to-face, however we realize time pressures and the inevitable move these days to all things ‘virtual’ and we have made every effort to make SLCSN-SUN web presence communicative and meaningful. SLCSN-SUN will go a long way, as it will open doors, for healthy dialogue about the national nutrition issues, challenges and solution at a day and age where Government are only engaging around economic and strategic affairs.

The goal of the SLCSN-SUN is to unite dedicated civil society organisations to ensure a voice is given to a range of small, independent, regional and national organisations, so that they contribute to the national dialogue and achievement of Scaling-Up Nutrition. My message to our nation as the Secretary and Focal Point of SLCSN-SUN is that we should encourage more participation of CSOs across the country to join this alliance for collective action for promotion of healthy & well nourished nation The Scaling-Up Nutrition movement is a global movement led by many countries. This movement is unique by bringing different groups of people together-governments, civil society, the United Nations, donor, business and scientists- in a collective action to improve nutrition. Through working together, we are achieving what no one of us can do alone.
